Starbucks Apologizes To Louisiana Woman For Satanic Latte Art

starbucks

The devil, it seems, is in the caramel drizzle.
Louisiana schoolteacher Megan K. Pinion was "appalled" after recently being served two Starbucks drinks that were allegedly marked with Satanic symbols. Pinion posted a picture of the drinks -- one featured a 666 and the other had a star that appeared to be Lucifer’s pentagram -- on the coffee giant's Facebook page on Sunday:
Pinion, who acknowledged she is Catholic, accompanied the photo with the following comments:
“The star is almost okay because it is in your Starbucks logo, the 666, however, was quite offensive,” she wrote. “I am in no way judging his beliefs or dis-meriting his beautiful artwork, I am however judging [the barista's] lack of professionalism and respect for others."
Starbucks has since apologized to Pinion.
“We’re taking the complaint seriously and have sincerely apologized for her experience,” Tom Kuhn, a Starbucks spokesman, told The Huffington Post on Tuesday. “This obviously is not the type of experience we want to provide any of our customers, and is not representative of the customer service our partners provide to millions of customers every day.”
Kuhn declined to comment on whether the employee, who was serving coffee at the company's Mall of Louisiana location, would be disciplined, saying "we do not discuss details about individuals' employment with out company."

Starbucks, for its part, has taken responsibility for poor customer service in the past.
Last month, the company apologized to a disabled Army veteran who was stopped by an employee at a Houston Starbucks when he tried to enter the store with a service dog.
In 2009, the company reportedly sent a $50 gift card to a customer after a franchisee on the New Jersey Turnpike refused to honor his 10 percent discount for using a Starbucks rewards card.

10 Shocking Facts About the Human Body

10 Shocking facts brought to you by Saif Ausaf

#1 50% of women contain a 4th color receptor in their eyes in addition to the normal 3, and can thus distinguish between more colors
As an example of how this works, where most of us may look at a rainbow and see seven colors, a lucky lady with that fourth receptor will actually be able to make out 10. An even smaller number of women end up with 5 color receptors!

#2 Humans are the only mammal that cannot swallow and breathe at the same time
You just tried to do it, didn't you? The reason for this is that humans' voice boxes are unusually low in their throats compared to other animals. In turn, this allows our voices to resonate much more, which allows for us to produce such a wide variety of sounds!

#3 It can take 4-15 months for your blood vessels to fully recover from a sunburn
Don't go outside without sunscreen! You've probably heard people tell you this all your life, but this is just another reason you should really listen to them. Your body might still be recovering from that bad burn you got last summer when next summer rolls around!

#4 Feet have more than 500,000 sweat glands and can produce more than a pint of sweat per day
Ever wondered why old socks smell so much worse than any of your other sweaty clothes? Just remember to scrub your feet extra well next time you take a shower, alright?

#5 Part of the reason you can't open your eyes when you sneeze is because sneezes regularly exceed 100 mph
It's like every time you sneeze, you're shooting an MLB-quality fastball out of your mouth! Also, this is where we make the customary request for you to PLEASE not try to open your eyes while sneezing.

#6 Heart attacks are most likely to happen on a Monday
This fact brought to you by a 10-year study in Scotland, finding that 20% of all heart attacks happen on Mondays. It could be due to drinking, or the unhappiness of going back to work, or the stress of going back to work. In any case, always make sure your lifestyle is healthy for you!

#7 Every pound of fat you gain causes your body to make 7 new miles of blood vessels
If you've ever wondered why obesity and heart disease are connected, now you know at least one of the reasons. Just another thing to motivate all of us to eat healthy!

#8 The average person in America/Europe eats 50 tons of food and drinks 11,000 gallons of liquid during their lives
To give you a clue, this essentially means that humans eat the equivalent of one humpback whale worth of food during the course of their lives. Which does not mean you should go hunting whales in the hopes of having a lifetime supply of food. Pretty sure the whale will go bad before too long.

#9 The acid in your stomach is strong enough to dissolve razor blades
Think of how tough the lining of your stomach must be, then! Note: We do not encourage anyone reading this to try swallowing razor blades, and in fact would request that you avoid doing so.
If you like it kindly comment and share it.
Thank You

Incredible undersea Internet cables post by Saif Ausaf

The only time the world is even aware of the undersea cables that carry internet signals around the world is when they are cut off - such as when a cable connecting Europe to the Middle East failed last year, or when a trailing ship's anchor cut through a cable under the Indian ocean.
Now, a new interactive map from Telegeography should help ships to steer clear of the multi-billion-dollar network of high-power cables through which 99 per cent of global internet traffic travels.

The map - using info from the Global Bandwidth Research Service - shows the position of cables (both planned ones and ones currently on the sea bed), and lets you know their landing stations, who owns them, how long they are, and when they'll come into operation if they are not already. The version on Telegeography's site lets you click on any cable who find out more.
Tim Stronge, of Telegeography, who created the map, says, 'Submarine cables are very expensive to build (generally ranging from $100m - $500m) but they deliver a huge amount of capacity.'
'Each cable costs about $10m a year in maintenance costs -- the price operators have to pay to keep repair ships on standby, and other costs.  If a cable breaks (which happens surprisingly frequently), the owner(s) of the cable also have to pay a repair ship to go out to sea and splice the cable, to the tune of $10,000 per day.'
The cables themselves are often not much wider than garden hoses and contain fibre-optic lines which can each contain bandwidth for up to 20 million people.

The Apollo cable - hidden under a Cornish beach - is one of Britain's main connections to America
One cable between the US and the UK carries 3.2 terabits of data per second - the 7,600 mile journey takes 0.00072 seconds.
Data on newer, hi-tech internet cables is 'flashed' down the lines by high-powered lasers, and the intensity is maintained by electrical repeaters costing up to £1 million each. An electrical cable runs parallel to the fibre-optic line to power the repeaters.
Failures can be catastrophic. One cable failure - between Sicily and Egypt - left more than 50 per cent of India without power in 2008, sending the country's computer industry and stock markets offline for hours.
